Gymnast earned first at Nationals

Gymnast Kellan McCarthy and Light Townsend won first place at the 2006 National Gymnastic Championship hosted by the University of California at Berkley on April 6-8.
McCarthy and Townsend earned the first place trophy for the University of Texas in Austin gymnastic team, which consisted of 10 gymnasts. They competed against 40 colleges from all over the United States

.
McCarthy is a 2003 graduate of Lockhart High School, and Townsend is a 2004 graduate of Luling High School. Both gymnasts were recipients of the Texas Exes scholarship while in high school.
