Hays rallies past Lockhart
Staff report
The Lockhart Lions lost their final home basketball game of the season, losing 66-58 to the Hays Hawks.
Hays also beat Lockhart in the Junior Varsity game, 44-33, and the Freshman game, 72-15.
Lockhart Head Coach Collin Hart said his young Lions competed on every possession.
Hays led by double-figures in the third quarter, but the Lions took the lead headed into the fourth period.
“We battled and clawed to the end but came up just short,” Hart said. “The gym had an energy to it, and you could feel it. We played off of that energy.”
Lockhart’s final game of the season was Tuesday at Leander Glenn.
“I was very impressed with how we played on Friday night,” Hart said. “We have been forced into situations with injuries that we cannot control, but our guys come out and play no matter who is suited up. Our guys played all four quarters with an intensity that we had not seen yet with this group. We have made huge improvements in areas we have been struggling in all season.
“The future is very bright for our young group, and we understand that we have no ceilings when it comes to how good our guys can be. We will just continue to keep our heads down and keep working because that is all we know.”
Junior Dareon Loggins and freshman Johnny Ford (led Lockhart with 13 points each, while junior Jordan Ortiz had 11, junior Roman Moreno 10, senior Brady Stephenson 8, and junior John Camacho 2.
Lockhart is 12-21 overall.
