Helen Mueller
Helen B. Mueller, 93, of Lockhart, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, in Lockhart, Texas. She was born on Aug. 24, 1916, to Rudolph Ferdinand and Alma Agnes (Grobowsky) Schreiber at Rogers Ranch in Caldwell County, Texas.
Helen attended school at Rogers Ranch and graduated from Lockhart High School. In September 1940, Helen married Emil “Sonny” Mueller, Jr.
When Sonny was stationed in San Diego with the Navy during WWII, Helen moved to San Diego for two years to be with him. After the war Helen and Sonny moved back to Lockhart and raised their family. In the 1970s Helen started working at The Jewel Shop with her sister-in-law Bertha Heyes. She worked at the shop until it closed in the late 1980s.
Helen belonged to many social clubs, playing Bridge, Canasta, 42, Bunco and Poker. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and relatives.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Emil “Sonny” Mueller, Jr.; son, Chris Mueller; brothers, Milton Schreiber and Herbert Schreiber; and sisters, Norma Nolte, Ella Nolte, Margaret Schroeder and Hilda Schreiber.
Her son, Larry Mueller, and his wife, Beverly, of Santa Paula, Calif., and daughter, Melanie Chamness and husband, Dana, of Houston, survive Helen. She was also blessed to have in her life seven grandchildren: Meredith Braendle, Jared Mueller, Mariandrea Mueller, Luana Mueller, Matthew Mueller, Maura Chamness and Suzanne Chamness; and two great-grandchildren, Jana and Andrew Braendle.
Deep appreciation is given to her caregivers with The Golden Age Home and Vista Care Hospice.
Family planned to receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at McCurdy Memorial chapel in Lockhart with Pastor Robert F. Hahn officiating. Internment will follow at Lockhart Municipal Burial Park in Lockhart.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Methodist Church Lockhart, Vista Care Hospice or a charity of your choice.
