James Erwin Hare, 78, of Lockhart, formerly of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos. He was born Dec. 10, 1927, in Menominee, Mich., to Erwin and Eva (Swanson) Hare.
James was a senior class officer in high school and he dearly loved to play baseball. A proud patriot, he served in the U.S. Army during World Wa

r II. He received his bachelor”s degree from the University of New Mexico in 1953.
James was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He married Ruth Harbin on March 13, 1954, in Albuquerque. He retired after 30 years from Sandia Laboratories. He had lived with his family in Lockhart, Texas, for the last several years.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Eva Hare, and by his brother, Roger Hare.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Harbin Hare of Lockhart, Texas; his son, Michael Hare; his daughter, Terrye Gardner of Lockhart; his sister, Mary Hare of Menominee, Mich.; his three grandchildren, Robin Mojica, James Hare, and Jessica Gardner, and his two great-grandchildren, Ariel Mojica and J.T. Mojica.
Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2006, in the McCurdy Memorial Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
