Joe Henry Ewald
Joe Henry Ewald, 79, of Seadrift, formerly of Lockhart, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at his home. He was born on June 9, 1927, in Austin, to Henry and Annie (Kanetzky) Ewald.
Joe was raised in the Lockhart area and later moved to Seadrift, where he had lived for the past 27 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force near the end of World War II, after which tim
e he worked in the oil fields and finally as a machinist for Union Carbide. He was married to Vivian Wright in 1968 in Victoria.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Annie Ewald; his first wife, Laura Zunker; and his two sisters, Ann Baker and Betty Balser.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Ewald of Seadrift; sons, Larry Don Ewald of Magalia, Calif., and Mark J. Ewald and wife Laura of Wimberley; daughter, Sharon Denise Staton and husband Curtis of Paradise, Calif.; step-sons, Richard Wayne Lang and wife Janet of Yulle, Fla., Carl J. Lang and wife Sharon and Stephen Michael Ferguson, all of Orlando, Fla.; brother-in-law, Buddy Baker of McMahan; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation was held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2006, at McCurdy Funeral Home. A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2006, in the Lockhart City Cemetery.
