Mr. Jose Saldana, 87 of Lytton Springs, TX, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006 at his home. He was born on July 5, 1919.
Jose was a World War II veteran with the 316th Station Hospital Unit serving in Scotland and England. After the war he returned to farming in Lytton Springs. He later was employed by Centex Materials in Austin, as a truck driver. Jose wa

s preceded in death by his wife, Maria Carmen, his son Carlos and his parents, Rodrigo and Juanita Saldana.
He is survived by his children, Aggie, Elena, Maria Delores, Rodrigo, Robert and Alicia, 20 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to his granddaughter, Cynthia, CTMC hospice, family and friends for their unlimited support during his brief illness.
Visitation began at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11 and continued all day on Sept. 12, 2006.
Rosary was held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006 at DeLeon”s Funeral Home, 110 Cedar St., Lockhart, Texas. A funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 13, 2006, at St. Mary”s Catholic Church, 205 W. Pecan St. in Lockhart. Burial followed the mass at Guadalupe Cementary in Mendoza, Texas. After the burial service, the family hosted friends at a luncheon in the Baptist Church Hall in Lytton Springs.
