Joy Wigginton
Joy Therese Hull Wigginton died quietly in New Braunfels, Texas, on May 12, 2013 at the age of 91.
Born in Hughes Springs, Texas on April 29, 1922, she and her twin brother, Roy, were the youngest of 15 children raised on a farm by their parents, Lena and Charles Hull. Though growing up on the farm was hard, Joy was always surrounded by the love of her parents and older sibl
ings.
Married for 59 years to the love of her life, Alfred Maurice Wigginton, Joy had one son, Fred David Wigginton.
During World War II, Joy worked for Sheffield Steel in Houston making parts for ships, and later worked for many years as the office manager for a Houston orthodontist.
A 1991 breast cancer survivor, Joy is preceded in death by her husband, A.M. Wigginton and grandson, Fred David Wigginton, II, as well as all of her siblings: brothers, Archie, Willie, Otha, Bun, Sam, Clyde, A.B., Buddy and Roy; and sisters, Clara, Nola, Gladine, Lottie Faye and Lena Mae.
Joy is survived by her son, Fred, and his wife, Karen, of Canyon Lake, Texas; grandchildren, Emily Wigginton, of San Marcos, and Jason Wigginton, of College Station; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was a Joy to all her family and friends with her beautiful smile, her unending love, and her profound devotion to her Lord through her commitment to the Baptist church.
We will miss you, MaMa, but will always be surrounded by your love. We want to thank Hope Hospice of New Braunfels for their many months of caring and support.
Graveside Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Martindale Cemetery, with the Rev. Jerry Bullock officiating.

I met Mrs. Wigginton in 1962 when I was a junior at South Houston High School. That’s when I started going to the orthodontist, but I can’t remember his name.
My husband and I lived in Lockhart from 1984 – 2012, so I, occasionally, look through The Lockhart Post Register, to see what is happening. When I saw your mother’s picture and name, I instantly remembered her!
I always thought she had the most beautiful white hair and the prettiest smile, but it was her kindness and caring heart that made her so special.
I wish I had known about her several years ago. I would have loved to have visited with her. I lost my mother last October, ten days before her 90th birthday, so I know the loss you are experiencing.
I pray God’s comfort and grace will help you through this difficult time.
