Joy Wilson Hankey, 78, of Lockhart, passed away on Aug. 6, 2008. She was born on July 31, 1930, in Granger, Texas, to Truitt Floyd and Reathie (Moriarty) Wilson.
Joy was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church. She was active in community organizations such as DAR, DRT, and Descendants of San Jacinto. She was also a volunteer at the Senior Citizen Retail Shop.

She is preceded in death by her parents Truitt and Reathie Wilson; husband Fred Thomas Hankey, Jr.; and daughter Carol Marie Hankey.
Joy is survived by her son, Fred Thomas Hankey, III, of Dale; her daughters: Sheryl H. Sarytchoff, and husband, Tom W., of Brownsville, and Lynn H. Ramirez, of Lockhart; brother, Lynn Wilson, and wife, Virginia, of Texas City; brother-in-law, Fredrick Zucknick, of Thrall; sisters: Vera Rost, of Fort Worth, Katherine LaGwen Fedor and husband, Steve, of Cibolo, and Madelyn Faye Neathery and husband, Jim, of League City; four grandchildren: Cody Angel Ramirez, Zebulen Truitt Ramirez, Sheryl Anne Sarytchoff, Catherine Anne Sarytchoff; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Joy was held on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at McCurdy Funeral Home, and services were on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at McCurdy Funeral Home, with burial following at Liberty Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Cody Ramirez, Zebulen Ramirez, Clinton Roberts, and Michael Espinoza.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Liberty Cemetery Association 824 Ross Circle, Lockhart, Texas, 78644.
