L.J.H. Lady Lions bring home 2nd place medals
The Lady Lion 8th grade “B” volleyball team traveled to Wimberley to compete in a round robin tournament on Saturday, Oct. 1. The Lady Lions brought home second place after a long, exhausting day of play.
The Lady Lions lost their first game of the tournament to the excellently skilled Lady Tigers from Dripping Springs with scores of 15-25 and 16-25. Courtney Ferris h
ad four kills at the net and Erin O”Connor had a consistent defensive game.
The Lady Lions bounced back with a win in the second game, defeating Navarro Junior High, 25-14 and 25-19. Amanda Alvarez and Audrey Valdez had four serves each in the first game, while Audrey Aguilar added six points for the Lions in the second game.
In the final game of the tournament, the Lady Lions took care of business defeating the Lady Bears from Bastrop, 25-22 and 25-10. Desiree Winn showed solid serving with 10 points in a row, while Aguilar added seven and Kelsie Briscoe had five. The win against Bastrop allowed the Lady Lions to bring home the second place medals, and bring their overall record to 9-3.
“The girls got off to a slow start, but pulled through to bring home the medals,” Coach Alisha Homann said. “I am very proud of their improvement and success so far this season.”
