The Lehman Varsity Lady Lobos kicked things off by scoring the first run of the game in the top of the first inning.
However, the Lockhart Varsity Lions quickly turned the tables in the bottom of the first. Presli Moebes hit a double down the left field line, followed by Lopez’s double to center, and Jordan Deutsch’s single down the left field line, each adding a run to put Lockhart in the lead.
In the second inning, Lockhart added another run when Moebes connected for a single to left field, pushing their lead to 4-1.
The Lions continued to build their lead in the bottom of the third, scoring two more runs thanks to errors from Lilly Villarreal and Marissa Sosa.
Emma Betancourt was on the mound for Lockhart, giving up 11 hits and six runs (two earned) over seven innings, while striking out four batters and walking one.
Lockhart racked up a total of 11 hits in the game, with Sosa, Genesis Lopez, Moebes, and Deutsch each contributing two hits. Both Lopez and Moebes drove in two runs for the Lions.
The Lions entered Friday’s game against the Glenn Grizzlies with some momentum but faced a tough loss, going down 11-1.
In the top of the fourth inning, Moebes made her presence felt with a solo home run to center field for the Lions.
Lilly Villarreal took over pitching duties for Lockhart, throwing two and a third innings where she allowed six hits and six runs (five earned), while striking out two batters and issuing one walk.
Moebes shined at the plate, going 2-for-3 and leading her team with one run batted in. The Lady Lions are currently 4-13 and 2-7 in District play.
