LHS golfers begin tournament season
Special to the LPR
On Tuesday, the Lockhart High School golf teams competed at the Stony Points High School Trifecta at Shadow Glen Golf Course in Manor.
“This was the first time for me to observe the team in tournament conditions,” LHS Head Coach Franklin Hudson said. “I have to say that I am pleased with how everyone played and worked together.”
There was no individual scoring at the tournament, only team scoring. Out of the 19 teams from 12 schools, the LHS boys Team II finished tied for 7th, while Team I finished tied for 13th.
Lockhart only had two girls compete, so it did not have an official score.
“I am very pleased with how everyone performed,” Hudson said. “I was really pleasantly surprised by two sophomores, Anissa Capetillo and Jaxon Rush. Both have great potential for this season. I am looking for them to be major contributors as we target a District Championship on our way to a spot in the State Tournament.”
The Lions’ next competition will be for the girls at the Vandergrift High School tournament Nov. 4-5 at Delaware Springs Golf Course in Burnet.
