Lion powerlifters bring home trophies
The Lockhart Lion powerlifting team competed at the Navarro Panther Powerlifting Meet on Saturday, Jan. 28, bringing home a fourth place trophy.
“All of the young men who participated in the meet gave a great effort and did a great job,” Coach Darrell Brock said.
The Lockhart Lions” team consisted of nine freshmen, one sophomore and one junior.

dworth received Top Squater with a 500-pound lift, Top Bencher with a lift of 305 pounds, and Top Deadlift with a lift of 440 pounds. Woodworth also earned first place in the Super Heavy Weight (SHW) class with a total lift of 1245 pounds.
Representing the freshman class was Matt Tienda, who earned a first place trophy for the Lions in the 123-pound class by lifting a total of 750 pounds. Freshman Zach Leija also earned a first place trophy by lifting 650 pounds in the 114-pound weight class.
Also earning points for the Lions were the following lifters:
•Kory Robbins with a seventh place finish by lifting 880 pounds in the 165-pound class
•Richard Ybarra with a eighth place finish by lifting 765 pounds in the 148-pound class
•Max Lindstrom with a eighth place finish by lifting 765 pounds in the 181-pound class
•Rafael Regalado with a seventh place finish by lifting 815 pounds in the 181-pound class
•Royse Lee with a ninth place finish by lifting 865 pounds in the 165-pound class
•John Squires with a eleventh place finish by lifting 855 pounds in the 165-pound class
•Bryan West with a seventh place finish by lifting 840 pounds in the 198-pound class
•Jacob Frey with a ninth place finish by lifting 725 pounds in the 198-pound class
Next, the Lockhart Lions” and Lady Lions” powerlifting team will compete at the Dripping Springs Powerlifting Meet on Saturday, Feb.4.
