Little League Allstars dominate tourney

For the softball division, the Lockhart Little League 8-year-old girls team ended their district tournament with a disappointing loss against Gonzales, 9-14. The girls were in their third and final match up against the offensively strong Gonzales team. The game was ended early after an hour and half of play signaled Lockhart”s defeat. Previously, the girls had beaten Gonz

ales, 16-12 and lost the game preceding, 12-11.
The Lockhart Little League11-year-old Boys All-Star team advanced in their tournament last Friday, June 24, as they defeated the New Braunfels-Blue team, 15-2. Lockhart held their opponent scoreless until the last inning of the game with pitcher, Logan Skelton, leading the strong defensive team.
While battling their way to the top of the tournament”s bracket, Lockhart”s 11-year old Boys All-Star team played a hard-fought game against Yoakum Monday evening, June 27. Lockhart was behind 7-11 at the top of the sixth inning, but wasn”t giving up hope as they made their comeback with their last chance to bat. With the bases loaded, Antonio Oliva steps up to the plate. His hit drives in three runners leaving him anxiously waiting on second base. Yoakum only needed one out to end the game and give them the victory. However, Lockhart”s pitcher, Nick Crow, steps up to bat sending the ball to third base and bringing Oliva home. As Oliva crossed home plate, Lockhart knew they had secured the 12-11 victory and was advancing into the next round in the tournament.
Lockhart”s 11-year-old baseball team ended their tournament with a loss against the New Braunfels-Red team on Tuesday evening, June 28. New Braunfels jump to an early lead, 1-3, over Lockhart during the first two innings. In the third inning, Lockhart was held scoreless while allowing New Braunfels to score four more runs. Trailing 7-1, Lockhart”s defense struggled in the fourth inning as New Braunfels scored another six runs leaving the score 13-1. New Braunfels followed their scoring run with another strong defensive inning leaving Lockhart scoreless again. The game was cut short after the fourth inning giving Lockhart their second eliminating defeat for the tournament.
