Lockhart Comprehensive Plan earns National Planning Award

    The City of Lockhart’s Planning Department has received national recognition for its work on the Lockhart Looking Forward Comprehensive Plan, earning an excellence award from the Small Town and Rural (STaR) Planning Division of the American Planning Association.

     The honor was announced during the American Planning Association’s 2026 National Planning Conference held in Michigan, where planning professionals from across the country gathered to recognize outstanding achievements in community planning and development.

     The comprehensive plan serves as a long-term guide for growth, development, and community priorities in Lockhart. Officials noted that the planning process emphasized public engagement and collaboration, ensuring that the plan reflects the values and aspirations of the community.

     The national award highlights Lockhart’s commitment to thoughtful planning and community-driven decision-making as the city continues to prepare for future growth while preserving the qualities that make it unique.
