Students from LJH help collect food

Lockhart Junior High students are being celebrated for their outstanding efforts during this year’s FCCLA Food for Families event, a national initiative aimed at reducing hunger through food collection, preparation, and distribution.

FCCLA; Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, is a student organization dedicated to developing leadership skills and empowering young people to succeed in their families, careers, and communities. Through hands-on learning and service-based experiences, FCCLA members learn to make a meaningful impact both inside and outside the classroom.

That mission was on full display as Lockhart Junior High students took a proactive role in supporting local families. The students launched and managed a campus-wide food drive, gathering essential non-perishable items for community members in need. Their service continued when families arrived to pick up the donations; students personally loaded the collected food into vehicles, offering help with compassion, respect, and pride.

School leaders praised the students’ dedication, noting that their efforts reflect the core values of FCCLA: leadership, service, and community engagement.

“We’re incredibly proud of these students,” staff members shared. “Their commitment shows that the FCCLA spirit is thriving here at Lockhart.”

A special thanks was also extended to Ms. Terrell, who expertly organized and led the event.

With teamwork, generosity, and a clear sense of purpose, Lockhart Junior High students have once again demonstrated how young leaders can make a real difference in their community.
