Michael Ray Hagan, of Rockport, Texas, passed from this world peacefully on April 18, 2010, holding his beloved wife”s hand and surrounded by a family that adored him. Michael was born in Lockhart on May 6, 1951, to Rudolph and Eunice Hagan. He married the love of his life, Darla Harbour, in 1977.

Michael had many loves, but his first and always was his wife, their c

hildren and grandchildren. His 24 years of service to Bluebonnet Electric Co-op was merely a passage to his retirement. Unfortunately, that retirement was short lived.

He loved the coast and moved to Rockport after retirement and a seven-week trip to the East Coast. He loved to fish especially for flounder in the fall. He also loved to hunt with his buddies – the hunting came second to camping, cooking and enjoying the camaraderie of his friends. He could build anything out of wood, just by looking at it. There really wasn”t much he could not fix of build. He always had something growing, from tomatoes to peppers to anything he could make grow. He and Darla moved to the community in Rockport because of all the wonderful friends that they call their extended family.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Harry Rudolph Hagan.

He is survived by his wife, Darla Hagan; daughters, Misty Michelle and Janna Leigh and her husband, Chris Caddell; his four “wonders of life” grandchildren: Kaitlyn Diana, Samantha Bailey, Emma Gene and Tyler Ray; his mother, Eunice Hagan; sisters: Kathryn Marie and Linda Joyce; brother, James Royce; numerous nieces and nephews; and so many, many friends.

He is also survived by his wife”s sister and her husband, Diana and Dave Cooper, sister, Linda Geffert, and mother, Avis Harbour who considered him their brother and son, not just an in-law.

Visitation will be at McCurdy Funeral Home on Thursday April 22, from 7 – 9 pm.

In leiu of flowers, a fund has been set up at First Lockhart National Bank in Michael”s name to offset some of the medical bills incurred, or you may make a contribution to the American Cancer Society”s Relay for Life in Michael”s name.
