June 23, 1951 – April 18, 2006
God received a beautiful angel and the world lost a caring and witty wife, a loving mother, an understanding sister and a wonderful friend to many when Olivia Ann Rangel passed on Tuesday, April 18, 2006. Olivia was surrounded by family and friends when God called her to his kingdom.

l Ramirez. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Bernie; her son, Eric; her daughter Lori Rangel-Pompa and her husband Roy Jr. and granddaughter ZoĆ« Nicole. Additional family members include her mother, Rina; brothers, Alex and wife, Teresa Ramirez, Danny and wife, Dora Ramirez, Robert and wife, Janie Ramirez; her sisters, R”Nay Havran and husband, Rudy, Olga Maldonado and husband, Baldeman; in-laws Martin and Rosa Rangel; sisters-in-law, Irma Bowden and Felicita Cano, and husband Alfred; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Olivia lived a full and rewarding life, continuously striving to achieve. She retired from the State of Texas Department of Human Resources in December 2000 after 31 years of service. In 1986, Olivia obtained her real estate license and was the first Hispanic real estate agent in Caldwell County. She worked with Dawson Perry Real Estate, Harrison Properties (later sold to Coldwell Banker) and in 2003 Olivia transferred to Ultima Real Estate Services. She just recently transferred back to Coldwell Banker and was looking forward to working with the agents. Her service to the community involved serving as President of Caldwell County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and President of Mexican- American Business and Professional Women of Lockhart. She served on the Community Action Board, Head Start Program and was very active with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. In January 2006, Olivia was recognized as “Hispanic Business Woman of the Year!”
The family would like to thank the staff at Central Texas Medical Center, St. David”s Medical Center, Texas Oncology- Dr. Jaffar and his staff and the nurses at Austin Hospice and Christopher”s House.
Funeral services were provided by DeLeon Funeral Home. A rosary was held on Friday, April 21 at 8:30 p.m. at St. Mary”s Catholic Church. Immediately after the rosary, guests were invited to participate in a Relay for Life Event in memory of Olivia. Mass in her honor was held on Saturday, April 22 at St. Mary”s Catholic Church at 10 a.m.
Pallbearers were Eric Rangel, Michael Ramirez, John Ramirez, Michael Maldonado, John Jacob Berry and Daniel Benavides.
