Powerlifters place second at Canyon Meet
The Lockhart High School Lion and Lady Lion powerlifting teams competed in the Canyon Cougar Power Lifting Meet in New Braunfels on Friday, Feb. 17. Both the girls and boys finished as the runner up teams in the meet.
Highlights of the meet included Ashley Castillo being named Best Female Lifter of the meet, and Travis Grogan breaking the 1500 lb. barrier.

g points for the Lady Lions were:
•Anna Beth Gonzales with a first place finish by lifting 630 pounds in the 198-pound class,
•Ashley Castillo with a first place finish by lifting 585 pounds in the 114-pound class
•Laura Villarreal with a second place finish by lifting 575 pounds in the 114-pound class
•Shayna Tucker with a fifth place finish by lifting 485 pounds in the 148-pound class
•Louisa Anchondo with a sixth place finish by lifting 475 pounds in the 123-pound class.
•Chelsea Branning also contributing to the team”s efforts in the 132-pound class.
Earning points for the Lions were:
•Travis Grogan with a first place finish by lifting 1515 pounds in the 198-pound class
•Ryan Lockhart with a first place finish by lifting 1405 pounds in the 220-pound class
•Trey Ware with a second place finish by lifting 1340 pounds in the 242-pound class
•Matthew Tienda with a second place finish by lifting 750 pounds in the 123-pound class
•Zach Leija with a second place finish by lifting 685 pounds in the 123-pound class
•Derrick Harris with a third place finish by lifting 1255 pounds in the 275-pound class
•Randy McGeehee with a fourth place finish by lifting 620 pounds in the 123-pound class
•Joe Woodworth with a fifth place finish by lifting 1285 pounds in the 275+ pound class
•Joe Fuentes with a sixth place finish by lifting 1110 pounds in the 181-pound class
•Jr. Reyes with a sixth place finish by lifting 1135 pounds in the 198-pound class
•David Pozuc also contributing to the team”s efforts in the 148-pound class.
Next, the Lockhart Lion and Lady Lion teams will travel to Del Valle for a powerlifting meet on Saturday, Feb. 25.
