Preston Ray Lawler was born in Luling, Texas, on March 22, 1928. He passed away on Dec. 26, 2010, in Houston, Texas. He was a long time resident of Joliet, Texas, in Caldwell County.

He worked as a bookkeeper in Lockhart for many years with the Lockhart Motor Company and owned and managed the Lawler Bookkeeping Service of Lockhart. He had been a member of the Mineral Spr

ings Baptist Church of Joliet, Texas, and had served as an ordained Deacon and the song leader in that church for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Amy Lawler, of Joliet; and one sister, Arlene Conley of Lockhart, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joline Reed Lawler, of Dickinson, Texas; one son, David Lawler and wife, Elaine, of Bastrop, Texas; one daughter, Kay Smith and husband, Rick, of Santa Fe, Texas; five grandchildren: Kenny Lawler, Janna Robertson and husband, Chad, Weston Smith, Kristen Smith and Justin Smith; and one great-granddaughter, Laura Katelyn Robertson.

Visitation was held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at the McCurdy Memorial Chapel. Funeral services are being held at the Mineral Springs Baptist Church of Joliet on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at 11 a.m. Interment followed at the Jeffrey Cemetery in McMahan, Texas. Dr. Rick Smith of Santa Fe, Texas, officiated the service with Pastor Kyle Bishop assisting.
