Richard “Bruce” Tucker, a husband, father and grandfather, died on May 7, 2009, surrounded by loving family and friends.

He was born in Georgetown on Jan. 26, 1943, to Lean Young Tucker and Wilburn R. Tucker. He grew up in Brady, Texas, where he was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and served as an elder for several years.

Bruce earned his degre

e in Criminal Justice and worked in Law Enforcement for 25 years. After retiring from APD because of a long illness, he volunteered as much as possible.

Due to the nature of his rare illness, he arranged for his body to go to the UT Medical School for research in hope of helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Tommie June Tucker, of Lockhart; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Cindy Tucker, of Austin; and grandchildren, Kathryn Tucker and Aaron Tucker, both of Austin.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathleen Ann Tucker.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 23, 2009, at noon at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cal Farley’s Children Home or the Brady Presbyterian Church.
