Robert Paul Springfield
Robert Paul Springfield was born in San Antonio, Texas on Sept. 7, 1944 to J. D. and Clara Lillian Welch Springfield.
Robert grew up in Seguin, where he graduated from high school in 1964. Robert started working with Commercial Metals in Seguin, and then went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Woodsboro in 1969.
Robert came to Lockhart, still with Southwe
stern Bell where he worked as an Installation Repair Technician. Still living in Lockhart, he then transferred to Austin as a Cable Splicer. After 36 years with Southwestern Bell, Robert retired.
Without a full time job, Robert found time to spend time in Law Enforcement as a Reserve Officer. He started working for the Lockhart Police Department from 1977 to 1987 where he then joined the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department.
Robert was with the Sheriff’s Department until 1997 until he quit, due to heart-related problems.
Robert missed law enforcement, but his love for fishing took its place.
Robert was a member of Plum Creek Casters, where he got a lot of pleasure and fun. He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited, and the Caldwell County Officers Assn.
Robert passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007, doing what he loved – he was with his friends at a Bass Tournament at Lake Corpus Christi, Texas.
