Lions keeping pace at halfway point

Lockhart improved its District 17-5A record to 4-3 last week, beating Austin LASA 53-48 on Friday on the road.

Jah Gulley led the Lions in scoring, finishing with 19 points and Major New added 16 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks. Other scorers included Daniel Morales with six points and Brady Stephenson, Ashton Dickens and Tay Andrews with four points apiece.

In other boys hoops news, the Lions celebrated New, a senior, achieving two milestones during his Lockhart career: 600 points and 500 rebounds.

The Lions’ coaching staff also reported that a second college has entered the Gulley sweepstakes. The senior guard recently received an offer from the University of Health Sciences Pharmacy in St. Louis, Missouri.
