Tanilo George “Oso” Rodriguez

In loving memory of Tanilo George, known to all of us as Oso, the bear with the biggest heart and the wildest spirit. Oso was a true goofball who lived to make people laugh, whether you were one of his four children, fifteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, or simply someone lucky enough to cross his path. He was a proud tío to many, always showing up with that same wild, joyful energy.
He loved fishing, the outdoors, cruising on his bike, dancing, and rocking out on the drums to his favorite rock ’n’ roll. His jokes, his laughter, and his unforgettable vato loco personality filled every room with life.
Anyone who knew him carries a story that still brings a smile. Whoever was blessed enough to get an early-morning text from him knows how much love he shared in even the smallest moments. He never missed a chance to turn a moment into a memory. Oso will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Tanilo George was preceded in death by his father, Anacleto Rodriguez; his mother, Ascensión Uribe Rodriguez; his brothers Vicente “Chente” Rodríguez, Adolfo Gabriel Rodríguez, and Pedro (Tony) Anthony Rodríguez; and his sisters Tomasa Rodríguez, Severa Vicenta García, Josefina Valeria Gonzales, and Marcelina Rodriguez.
He is survived by his brother Tom Pedro Rodriguez; his sister Betty Julie Diaz; his girlfriend Rosemary Ruiz; his children Valerie Rodríguez Zavala (Lorenzo Zavala), Mike Anthony Rodriguez, Tanilo George Rodriguez Jr., and Tammy Rodriguez Lopez (Isaac Lopez); his fifteen grandchildren; and his seven great-grandchildren.
Honored to serve as his pallbearers are Eric Zavala, Ivan Lopez, Lorenzo Zavala, Isaac Lopez, George Rodriguez, Jacob Reyes, Phillip Gonzales, and Sylvester Gonzales. Family and friends are invited to come together in that same spirit of love and laughter at DeLeon Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, with family viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a public viewing from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Church services and the eulogy will be offered from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be celebrated at DeLeon Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at San Pablo Cemetery, 1551 N. Colorado St., Lockhart, Texas. Afterward, all are welcome to gather for a reception at El Rey, 1721 S. Commerce Street, Lockhart, Texas 78644.
