Two stolen trailers recovered near Lockhart

An investigation by the Caldwell County Constable’s Office Auto Theft Unit led to the recovery of two stolen trailers Tuesday on a rural property just east of Lockhart.
According to investigators, the Auto Theft Unit followed evidence that led them to the property, where two trailers were located. Investigators confirmed both trailers had previously been reported stolen before seizing them so they could be returned to their rightful owners.
Constable Paul Easterling said the case serves as a reminder for residents to take a few extra steps before purchasing a trailer from a private seller. Buyers are encouraged to verify ownership, compare the Vehicle Identification Number, or VIN, to the title, and make sure all proper documentation is in place before completing a purchase.
Taking time to check those details, Easterling said, can help prevent someone from unknowingly buying stolen property. The investigation remains active, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
The Caldwell County Constable’s Office Auto Theft Unit said it remains committed to investigating vehicle and trailer theft, recovering stolen property, and working with law enforcement partners to hold offenders accountable. Anyone with information regarding vehicle or trailer theft is encouraged to contact the Caldwell County Constable’s Office, Precinct 2, at 512-359-4711.
