Varsity Lions shine in distance events

Distance was the name of the game for the Varsity Lions, who showed their prowess and pride despite a fifth-place team finish.
Lions James Bonn and Jonathan Fitzgerald dominated the 3200-meter, finishing first and second with times of 10:05 and 10:21 respectively. Bonn also earned a bronze for his performance in the 1600, finishing in 4

:45, just behind silver medalist and teammate Clay Culpupper, and only one second before fourth place winner Nick Yunkin.
Yunkin and Culpepper traded places to finish the 800-meter, with Yunkin earning fourth in 2:01 and Culpupper trailing in fifth at 2:03.
Pole vaulter Daniel Cudzillo earned gold with his 14″6″ jump, and triple jumper Terrance Waldon hit silver with a 41″2″ effort. Wladon also earned a fourth-place finish in the high jump.
Michael Harvey finished out the Lions” medal efforts with a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash.
Hurler Stacy Bell earned fourth place for his contributions in both the shot put and the discus. His discus throw measured 123″10″ and the shot flew 41″03″.
Calvin Johnson earned fifth place in the 400-meter dash, and Nic Alford and Xavier Thomas finished fifth and sixth respectively in the 300-meter hurdles.
The 800-meter relay team comprised of Harvey, Alex Joseph, Kendal Arnold and Demi Joseph brought home ribbons for their sixth-place finish.
