Violet Irene White Butler, age 95, died September 24, 2004 in Prescott, Arizona. She was born December 8, 1908 in Dale, Caldwell, County, Texas, the daughter of William Leonard and Meta Wersebe White Jr. When she was 28 days old, her mother died due to birth complications. Violet was reared by her uncle and aunt Fred and Lizzie White Wersebe.
Violet graduated from Southwest State Teachers College in San Marcos with a degree in teaching. She taught in the Jeddo School. She was the Church Secretary for the First Lockhart Baptist Church for several years.
Violet married Glenn Sidney Butler, of Arkansas, on April 13, 1950 in Lockhart. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1969.
After the death of her husband, Violet sold her home in Lockhart and moved to San Antonio, Texas. She traveled and lived in several states, including Missouri and Florida. For about the last fifteen years, Violet made her home in Prescott, Arizona area where she enjoyed the mountains and tremendous views.
She was cremated at her request. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2004 in the Delhi Cemetery in Caldwell County. Memorials in her name may be made to the Delhi Cemetery Association, 15711 FM E. 713, Rosanky, Texas 78953.
