The Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshmen Lion baseball teams plan to start the 2009 season with a bang. The first day of baseball practice at the Lion Field will go on well into the following day.

“It is baseball madness,” Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach Brad Robbins s

aid. “50 innings! Have you ever seen that?”

All three teams will participate in inter-squad scrimmages beginning on Friday, Jan. 30 from 8 p.m. and continuing on through Saturday, Jan. 31 at 2 a.m. The games will resume at 2 p.m. on Saturday ending the first two days of baseball practice at 6 p.m.

Head Baseball Coach Pat Bailey and Robbins are both excited about the new season and invite the public to join them at Lion Field on Friday and Saturday.

“We are going to have all our teams out there showing their stuff during the first practice and we want the Lion fans out there supporting us like they did the football teams,” Bailey said.

“It is going to be a lot of fun,” Robbins said. “We are looking forward to a great season and can’t wait to get going.”

The Lions will start their first scrimmage at Lion Field at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan 30.
