Mary Ann Massey, 84, of Weatherford, Texas, moved onto Heaven on April 6, 2013.

A celebration of her life will be held April 13, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Weatherford. Burial will be April 12, 2013, at 3 p.m. in the Lockhart Municipal Burial Park in Lockhart, Texas.

A loving wife and devoted mother, Mary Ann was born Nov. 12, 1928, in Weslaco,

Texas, to parents Cleveland and Lucy Burton. She attended college in Nashville, Tenn., Dallas, Waco and Canyon, Texas, earning degrees from Baylor University and West Texas State University.

Wherever Mary Ann and her late husband, Cecil E Massey lived, she was passionate about raising her family and the Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school, played piano, led UMW groups and volunteered in many capacities.

Mary Ann was very active in community theatre, particularly directing, costume design and construction, and stage design. Behind the scenes roles suited her, as she nourished and shared a love of theatre first found in college while studying under Paul Baker.

She was many times a Den mother for her sons’ Scouting activities as well being active in her daughter’s interests including Girl Scouts, music and dance. Later in life she continued by travelling the state to attend concerts, plays, contests, recitals, graduations and the like for her five grandchildren.

Mary Ann is survived by her sons, Cleve, Neal and Mark and wife, Shawn, and her daughter Linda.  Five adoring grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as countless friends and relatives will forever remember her for her selflessness, counsel and love of life.
