Varsity, JV Lady Lions out hit Lady Lobos

The Varsity and Junior Varsity Lady Lions hosted Lehman in their first district game of the season on Monday, March 3 and ruled the field with run after run, ultimately defeating the Varsity Lady Lobos 16-0 and the JV Lady Lobos 19-2.
Varsity
Lockhart scored seven runs in the first inning and nine in the second. Big hit
s came from freshman Lady Lion Veronica Escobedo who went 2-3 with a triple and knocked one out of the park for a home run in the first inning.
Escobedo’s home run was hit at the very beginning of the game. As the second batter up to bat for the Lady Lions, Escobedo rallied the team and fired up the crowd with her home run. The Lady Lions took advantage of the momentum and never looked back.
Sophomore Lady Lion Brandy Stacks went 2-2 with two RBIs while Jaime Schulle went 2-3 with three RBIs.
Junior Chelsy Martinez went 3-3. Freshman Kassie Gaddis had two RBIs.
Seniors Janie Juarez and Zaida Hager each had one RBI. Gaddis, Juarez, Hager and freshman Taylor Boedecker each had a single.
Boedecker was on the mound for the Lady Lions, striking out eight Lady Lobos and only allowing one hit.
Lehman made seven major errors in the game.
Junior Varsity
The JV Lady Lions set the tone for the night with their 19-2 win on Monday. They scored eight runs in the first inning and 11 in the second.
Their big hits came from Briana Ortiz who went 2-3 with a double and hit an in-the-park home run.
Monica Parra went 2-3 and Sydney Porter hit an in the park home run. April Ruiz and Marissa Lopez each had a single.
Pitching for the JV Lady Lions was Jessica Henderson, who struck out four JV Lady Lobos and allowed only one hit.
The Varsity Lady Lions hosted the Del Valle Lady Cardinals on Tuesday, March 11 at 2 p.m. The Varsity and Junior Varsity Lady Lions hosted Hays on Wednesday, March 12. Check next week’s Post-Register for scores and highlights.
