The first annual “Keep Lockhart Beautiful” community cleanup, focusing on the Plum Creek area, is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20.
A combined effort between City of Lockhart and Caldwell County officials, along with the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) and many local citizens has led to the first-of-its-kind

trash cleanup in Lockhart’s waterways.
The cleanup will begin in the Town Branch Springs near Pecos Park, and will wind through town along the springs to Lion’s Park, on Highway 183.
Volunteers are encouraged to meet under the Main Pavilion at Lockhart City Park between 7:30 – 8 a.m. on Saturday, where they will receive not only their cleanup assignments, but gloves and trash bags to use in the cleanup effort.
According to Debbie Magin, Director of Water Quality Services for GBRA, volunteers will also be provided with lunch for helping with the cleanup, and commemorative tee shirts will be available.
After it is collected, the trash will be weighed, then sorted for recycling.
“We are.. in hopes that.. you are looking for a volunteer effort to join that is worthwhile for Lockhart,” Magin said in a letter dated Sept. 5.
Although Magin asked cleanup teams to register prior to the event, volunteers are still being accepted. To volunteer individually or as a team, contact Liz Sedlacek in Seguin at (800) 413-5822, ext. 312, or Hillary Contreras at (512) 644-0441. Teams may also register at City Park on Saturday.
