Albert Loraine Hess died on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, after a brief illness. Born February 27, 1930 to W. S. and Ruth Hess in Houston, Al spent his working life in Houston. He graduated from Reagan High School in 1948, served in the U.S. Army from 1948-1951 and married Mary Roemer in 1954.
Al, a master electrician, retired from Johnson Controls after more than 20 years o

f service. He maintained his license as master electrician his entire adult life.
Upon retirement Al and Mary relocated to their beloved mountain home in Ruidoso, N.M. There he spent the rest of his life enjoying horse racing, cool mountain weather, visiting and being visited by family and friends, and the pleasure of waking up each morning and remembering that he was retired. Al had many things he still wanted to do and to teach his family, whom he left too soon.
Al is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; his daughter and son-in-law, Trischa Hess and Wayne Bock of Lockhart; daughter and son-in-law Susann and Don Brown of Keller; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Elaine Hess of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Janette Hess of League City; daughter and son-in-law Angela and Don Gandy of Weatherford; ten grandchildren: Adam, Chris and husband, Michael, Tristan, Nathan and wife, Lauren, Scott, Alan, Russell, Jacob, Stephen and Claire; three great-grandchildren, Dustin, Summer and Madelyn; sister, Ellen Silhan; aunt, Marion Whitaker; and and numerous loving cousins, nieces and nephews and in-laws in the Hess and Roemer families.
Services were held on Monday, Sept. 8, 2008.
