Debra Sanderson Drake, 69, was called home by Jesus on November 23, 2021. A memorial service with military honors is being held at Calvary Chapel, 204 N. Main Street, Lockhart, at 1 p.m. on January 15, 2022, Pastor Pete Arciniega officiating.
Debbie was born October 10, 1952 in Hillsboro, Oregon, the first of four daughters born to Merle Philip Sanderson and Geraldine Marie Lenhart Sanderson. Besides her parents,  Debbie was predeceased by her son, Justin Robert Dawes, one sister, Cheryl Durand, and a brother, Gary Sanderson. She is survived by two sisters, Sylvia Santana and Pam Shapiro.
Debbie served as a company commander in the U.S. Navy. She completed basic training at Great Lakes, Illinois and was stationed in Florida and Hawaii. (Wonderful duty stations!) As a civilian, she was a barber, a legal secretary a word processing specialist and an office manager.
She moved to Texas from Connecticut in the late 1990s after years of back and forth visiting  with her “Texas family.” She loved them fiercely and her memory lives on in their hearts: Sandra & Danny Horton, Merissa Horton, Troy Snead, Tara Snead, Trayce Youngblood, Meghan & Brady Beisel, Zoe and Sariah Walker. Debbie was a loving Godmother to Kayson Youngblood and Jacob Flores, a position she took very seriously until her last day.
