Ella Barton, age 93, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007. Ella was born on April 23, 1913 near Red Rock, Texas in Bastrop County to Joe Frank Wilhelm and Augusta Matjeka Withelin. Ella was the fifth of ten children.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband Bill (Willie) Barton in 1952, her

parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Ella lived all of her life in the Watterson Community of Bastrop County except in her last years when she lived with or near her daughter, Bonnie Rose, in Hays County.
Ella”s hardworking, independent, pioneer spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her. She loved to garden, sew (especially quilts), and loved working with her livestock.
Ella is survived by her son Bernard (Ben) Barton and wife Jeanne of Mart, Texas; son Weldon Barton and wife Joan of Bastrop; daughter Betty Christiansen and husband David of Haymarket, Virginia; daughter Bonnie Rose and husband Mike of Dripping Springs; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katie Cain of Nocona, Texas and Alma Campbell of Portales, N.M.; and many other relatives and friends.
Recitation of the Rosary was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007. Interment followed at Saint Mary”s Catholic Church Cemetery in String Prairie, Texas.
Memorials may be made to the Rockne Historical Association, 167 Lehman Lane, Bastrop, Texas 78602.
