Special to the LPR

“People need art in their houses. They don’t need Bed Bath and Beyond dentist-office art. They need weird stuff.” These words from Ezra Croft set the stage for an extraordinary Open Art House you won’t want to miss.

DayGlo cows, melted cowboy faces, and wig-wearing taxidermy in an octopus garden under the sea? If you like art that challenges the ordinary and embraces the extraordinary, you’re in for a rare treat.

On Saturday, June 8, from 4-8 p.m., LockhART House invites the community to experience new artworks by renowned guest artists Tra’ Slaughter, Sandra Boskamp, Shaun Avants, and Hope Perkins.

LockhART House is home to artist, Chad Rea, and offers the community a unique opportunity to discover exciting works from contemporary artists in an intimate setting. Filled with contemporary art from all over the world, Rea rotates the art regularly and, a few times a year, invites art-lovers over to see it hang just like it would in their home. Home is where the art is. Rea calls his The Art House.
