Joshua Rantz was born August 12, 1988 in South Korea. His “Special Day” was December 29th, 1988, the day he arrived in Lubbock from South Korea and became the son of John and Char (Hays) Rantz. He died August 25th, 2022 at his home in Lubbock, TX. Services for Joshua will be at 10:00AM Saturday, September 3rd, 2022 at Aldersgate Church with Ryan Smallwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will gather to receive friends from 6:00PM until 7:00PM Friday, September 2nd, at Abell Funeral Home. Joshua graduated from Coronado High School in Lubbock in 2007, and served as Student Body President during his Senior year. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout through Troop 406 in Lubbock. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Management. Joshua loved big adventure, anything outdoors from camping, canoeing or rappelling second only to his love of his family. He was a “lion hearted” person, always fighting for the underdog. He had an enthusiasm for life and a great sense of humor. Over the past two months Joshua had a deep renewal of his faith in Jesus and was resolute in his plans to walk with the Lord moving forward. Joshua was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hilbert and Billie Rantz of Abernathy and John and Bebe Hays of Lubbock. He is survived by his parents John and Char Rantz of Lubbock, a brother, Benjamin Rantz of Lubbock, his beloved Corgi, Taco, aunts and uncles, Mary and Jack Benton of Lubbock, Sherry Rantz of San Antonio, TX, Laurie and Stan Coffman of Durham, NC, Phillip and Tricia Hays and Paula and Greg Ammons all of Lubbock, numerous cousins and dear girlfriend Madelyn Gunn of Lubbock. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Top of Texas Corgi Rescue, www.topoftexascorgirescue.com, or a favorite charity.
