Luz G. (Lucy) Serrato, 93, beloved sister and aunt, was called to her eternal resting place on December 4, 2020. She entered this world on July 14, 1927 in Lockhart, Texas, born to David and Soledad Serrato. Lucy was an astute businesswoman. She ran her business, Lucy’s Thrift Shop for approximately 25 years, winning Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Business Woman award in 1995. Well known for carrying a large and eclectic range of items, her store was known to help movie producers find antique clothing as well as props for their projects (http://mixerrreviews.blogspot.com/2018/10/what-was-lucys-thrift-shop-in-lockhart.html?m=1). Lucy was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Abraham Serrato, Samuel Serrato, Estella Afanador, David Serrato, Jr., and Beatrice Soto. She ­­is survived by brother Rodolfo Serrato and wife, Rosa Serrato; brother Genaro S. Ybarra and wife, Theresa Ybarra; sister-in-law, Ramona Serrato; numerous nieces and nephews. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at DeLeon Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 10, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
