Mary Capella
February 14, 1940-June 5, 2025
Mary E. Capella of Lockhart passed away, peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at the age of 85.
Born in Lockhart, she was the daughter of the late Francisco Capello and Antonia (Bermudez) Capello.
Mary is remembered by her family as a fantastic cook who loved to provide to not only her family but to anyone who was ever in need. With a loving spirit, she was a caring grandmother not only to her own grandchildren but to many children who needed a grandmother’s warmth. She was a lively woman who loved to dance and attend parties. She had a passion for gardening; tending to her plants was her love. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her sons Gilbert (Low) Lopez Jr. and Francisco (Frankie) Lopez, sisters Frances Juarez and Celia Hernandez, brothers Ruben Capello and Norberto (Tati) Capello and grandpup Precious Marie Banda.
Mary is survived by her son, Mateo Pastrano and his wife Lidia of Victoria; two daughters, Rose Mary Banda and her husband Jesse of Cedar Creek and Laurie Pastrano-Peña and her husband Fidencio of Lockhart; her partner and other-half Ruben Zapata; three brothers, Damien, James, and Ernest Capello; four sisters, Avelina Martinez, Vivian Capello, Peggy Capello, and Elda Velasquez; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was also survived by four grandpups, Choco, Pippa, Diego (Little One) Peña and Ranger Pastrano. Serving as pallbearers are Jesse Banda Jr, Jose Cruz Banda, Ernie Sanchez, Xavier Pastrano, Oscar Campos, and A.J. Martinez.
The family would like to thank Ruben Zapata, Angela Garcia, and Compassus Hospice for the care and love they provided for Mary the last couple of years.
Funeral Mass will be held at on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 10am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lockhart. The Holy Rosary will be prayed before Mass at 9:15am at the church. Relatives and friends are invited. Arrangements under the care and guidance of McCurdy Funeral Home.
