With deep sorrow and love, we announce the passing of Oscar Yanez, who left this world on May 24, 2025 at the age of 65 after a long illness. Oscar was born February 12, 1960 in Maxwell, TX.  Formally of Lockhart he resided in Minneapolis, MN. Beloved son, brother, Father, and friend, whose life was filled with music, faith, and a generous heart.

Oscar was a gifted guitar player whose talent left a lasting impression on everyone who heard him play. Music was his passion, and through it, he touched countless lives—whether performing for friends, family, or during worship services at the churches he cherished. Later in life, Oscar found a deep and meaningful relationship with God, and his faith became a guiding light. He shared that light through his music, using his gifts to glorify God and bring comfort and joy to others.

Oscar is survived by his loving mother, Lala Yanez. His wife, Janet and his children, Joni Yanez Shannon, Crystal Yanez, Jessica Yanez, Stevie Ray Yanez, Eulalia Yanez, Zoey Yanez, and Zachary Yanez . He is also survived by several grandchildren and 1 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Luciano Yanez and his brother Raymond Yanez. He is also survived by his siblings: Ruben (Maggie), Saul (Swanda), Emma (Art), and Sylvia, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Oscar’s legacy is one of kindness, faith, and music that lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his warm spirit, his love of family, and the beautiful melodies he shared with the world.

A service to celebrate Oscar’s life will be held at a later date to be announced for all who knew and loved him
