Buddy Freeman takes over at PLISD
Prairie Lea Independent School District has announced the appointment of Buddy Freeman as Interim Superintendent.
Freeman, a native of Woodway, Texas, brings more than 37 years of educational leadership experience to the district. Over the course of his career, he has served in key roles including Superintendent, Chief Financial Officer, and Director of Maintenance & Transportation, demonstrating a unique blend of financial expertise, operational oversight, and instructional vision.
Known for his hands-on leadership style, Freeman has overseen more than $150 million in school construction projects across Texas, work that has helped modernize campuses and provide safer, more effective learning environments. His efforts reflect a career-long commitment to student-centered innovation, operational excellence, and community engagement.
A graduate of East Texas State University, Freeman holds both a master’s degree in educational administration and a Superintendent Certification. Colleagues and educators describe him as a forward-thinking leader whose work has not only improved school systems but also inspired countless teachers and administrators statewide.
As he steps into his new role, Freeman said he looks forward to working closely with the Prairie Lea community to build on the district’s traditions while preparing students for future success.
