Lockhart Independent School District announced James Crowley last week as its Fine Arts Director. Crowley, who has served as the district’s Fine Arts Coordinator and Band Director, will oversee fine arts programs for grades Pre-K through 12.

Crowley brings a wealth of experience and accomplishments to his new role. He is a graduate of the Lockhart ISD Emerging Leader Cohort 2021 and earned a Masters in Educational Leadership with a Principal Certification in 2023.

Throughout his tenure at Lockhart ISD, Crowley has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership and dedication to the fine arts programs. Under his direction, the Lockhart High School Bands have earned Sweepstakes Ratings at UIL Contests for five consecutive years.

“Throughout his time in Lockhart ISD, Mr. Crowley has consistently shown a commitment to being ‘Locked on Excellence’ and ‘UnLocking Potential’ in our fine arts students,” Superintendent Mark Estrada said. “I am confident that he will continue to elevate the quality of our award-winning fine arts programs as the district continues its rapid growth.”

In addition to his role at Lockhart ISD, Crowley has also served as a Brass Instructor for the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps, where he instructed the brass section during winter rehearsals and the 12-week summer tour. He has also held positions as an Assistant Band Director at Cypress Lakes High School and Director of Bands at Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School, where he demonstrated his expertise in program administration and ensemble direction.

“Lockhart ISD is a truly special place,” Crowley said. “I am honored to continue serving our district in this capacity and eager to continue collaborating with students, educators, and community members as we build a legacy of excellence.”

As Crowley assumes his new role, Lockhart ISD will begin the search for a new Band Director. The district is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining the high standards of its historic Roaring Lion Band.
