Candidate for Lockhart City Council District 4

My name is Rebecca Menke, and I am running for Lockhart City Council District 4. I’m not a
politician, and I’ve never run for office. But I have been service-minded my whole life, whether
fostering dogs, donating blood, or volunteering at the food bank. When neighbors encouraged
me to run, I said yes because I care deeply about this city and how it grows. Lockhart raised
me, and I am excited about the opportunity to give back.
I graduated from Lockhart High School in 1996, studied at UTSA, and went on to race bicycles
around the world. For over 27 years, I have built a career in healthcare and healthcare
technology. My experience working with large hospital systems will be an asset as Lockhart
works to finally bring a hospital to town.
Over the last two months, I have knocked on over 500 doors and talked with over 200 neighbors
about the issues that matter most: affordability and property taxes, responsible growth, safe
roads and sidewalks, public safety, opposition to data centers, and getting Lockhart a hospital.
This is a nonpartisan seat, and I intend to represent everyone in District 4, whether or not they
voted for me. I’ll make sure every voice is heard and that residents get proactive updates before
decisions are made, not after.
Nobody gets anything done alone on council. I’ll treat my fellow council members as
teammates, come prepared, ask tough questions, and work together to make life better for
everyone who calls Lockhart home.
