The Roaring Lion Report
Lockhart Jr. High hosts open house

Lockhart Jr. High School recently hosted an open house to welcome their Lion families on campus. Families had the chance to meet teachers, explore classrooms and learn more about the exciting opportunities ahead for students this school year. Thanks to the LJHS staff who prepared such a warm welcome and to their parents and students for showing up with so much enthusiasm. The partnership between home and school is what makes our community so strong.
Hispanic Heritage Month at Plum Creek

Plum Creek Elementary hosted Noche Mexicana, where students from across the district came together to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Talented singers from PCE gave a moving rendition of Selena’s “Como La Flor.” Ballet Folklorico from Clear Fork and ABS dazzled the audience with their traditional dances. LHS’s Mariachi Corazon de Leon closed the night with powerful voices and the rich sounds of mariachi. Special thanks to the families who cheered them on, and to the incredible LISD staff who made this night possible.
Lions Theater performs

On Monday, Lions Theater performed “Mighty Max and the Junkyard Pirates” for the elementary students—and it was a hit. The story sparked smiles, laughter, and lessons for the Little Lions. Watching the audience’s glee and joy throughout the show was truly magical. Haven’t caught it yet? Don’t worry—there’s still time. Check out showtimes and tickets at: http://bit.ly/4nH6ZvX. LISD is so proud of the LHS Theater Department for their hard work, creativity, and commitment to excellence.
Lion Radio-one year on the air

Happy one-year anniversary to Lions Radio! Lions Radio is run by LHS’s very own Studio 301.
CJ “the Tejano Kid,” Benji, and Mr. Bishop played some great music, celebrated their one-year milestone, and ended with a segment called “Let’s Listen to that Song” in which each week they analyze the lyrics to a different song.
And they’re only expanding, adding more segments and getting more Lions involved.
Catch their next show on Saturdays from 10a-12p on 107.9 FM or listen to their past shows on KLKT.org.
Congrats Lions Radio, and LISD is proud of your hard work and dedication. Looking forward to many years of our LHS Lions taking over the airwaves.
Ms. Santos honored

At the recent district staff meeting, Superintendent Estrada proudly presented LISD’s Communications Specialist, Ms. Dechanel Santos, with a Spirit of 1.5 pin.
Ms. Santos is creative, hardworking, never backs down from a challenge or deadline, and is always willing to help and shine a spotlight on others. She’s usually behind the scenes, but this time it was her turn to be recognized and celebrated.
