Dick Sorrell 84, of San Marcos, Texas passed away on Sunday July 2, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at St. David’s Hospital Austin, Texas.

Dick was born on October 4, 1938, in Corpus Christi, Texas to JR Sorrell and Ruth Frank Sorrell.  Dick was the middle child of 3 boys.

He met the love of his life, Villa Harris at A&I college in Kingsville, Texas in September 1958.  He and Villa united in marriage April 4, 1959 in Alice, Texas.  They were blessed with four kids, Malley, Sherry, Scott and Rae Ann.

He owned many of his own businesses and ended his career as a home builder in San Marcos.  He was the President of the Corpus Christi Little League, Builder for Habitat for Humanityand Board President for the Little Green Church in Martindale.  Dick and Villa volunteered for the Sunshine Kids and Little Green Church Soup Kitchen.

Dick was an avid outdoorsman and a diehard UT Longhorn Fan.  He once kayaked 15 miles across the intercostal canal after running his boat aground fishing.  He loved fishing in manytournaments with his little brother Pat and Lee Porterfield.  He traveled the world to famous fishing destinations with Mike Shellman.  He and Jack Sanders owned a racehorse named “Streaking Indian”. He gave his children a dream childhood, building them a house on Lake Mathis.  He taught them to water ski (sometimes before school), ride dirt bikes, hunt, fish and took them on frequent trips to the Frio.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents JR and Ruth Sorrell and older brother Bob Sorrell.

He is survived by his wife Villa, children Malley Sorrell, Sherry Boenig (Bryan), Scott Sorrell (Karen) and Rae Ann Roberts (Gene), 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and little brother Pat Sorrell (Lillian).
